Current Projects

Alexander Wienand Quartet

The quartet led by Berlin-based pianist Alexander Wienand merges poetic melodies and captivating grooves into a balanced sound wrapped in the language of contemporary modern jazz. Versatile and organic, the ensemble moves through sophisticated themes, original harmonies, and soaring solo flights.

“Music full of lightness, but never trivial… it has to groove, and it certainly does.” (BR Jazztime)

Short Description: A top ensemble blending modern jazz sophistication with expressive energy – music that grooves, inspires, and flows with poetic lightness.

Alexander Wienand Trio

The trio has existed since their student days in the early 2000s and primarily performs compositions by Alexander Wienand. In 2010, the ensemble was honored with the Bavarian Art Promotion Prize

Double Rescue

In the piano duo Double Rescue, pianists Marco Netzbandt and Alexander Wienand combine their passion for improvisation, composition, and arranging with a shared love of virtuosic pianism to create a captivating concert program. With two grand pianos, four ears, twenty fingers, and 176 keys, they explore and recompose jazz standards, experiment with previously unheard grooves, and allow their instruments to merge into an almost orchestral sound. In the process, they blur the boundaries between classical music, jazz, and contemporary music (Concerto)

Havanna Berlin Express

Havana Berlin Express fuses vibrant salsa rhythms with contemporary jazz improvisation – energetic, soulful, and full of joy.

New Piano Trio

Founded in 2013, the New Piano Trio – Florian Willeitner (violin), Ivan Turkalj (cello) and Alexander Wienand (piano) – combines classical chamber music with elements of jazz, folk and contemporary styles. Original compositions and improvisation shape the ensemble’s sound as it explores new dimensions of the piano trio tradition.

Silent Jazz Bar

The Silent Jazz Bar Berlin, brought to life by Alexander Wienand and Urs Johnen, is a space for intimate concerts, inspired improvisations, and musical dialogue. Away from conventional club structures, it creates a unique closeness between musicians and audience. Its program spans modern and traditional jazz, Latin, world music, and singer-songwriter evenings – always focused on poetic soundscapes and authentic interplay.
